Private Tour of Sofia – An Itinerary Around Your Group’s Interests

A private tour of Sofia lets you agree on a programme around your own group’s interests rather than join a standard sightseeing trip. The starting point, language, time and preferred stops are arranged beforehand. A personalised itinerary does not, however, mean a bus can reach every attraction: some places are viewed from the vehicle, while others require a separate walk.

Three itinerary ideas based on your group’s interests

Choose a main theme rather than trying to fit every attraction into a short programme. The following options are ideas to discuss, not confirmed bus routes:

  • Sofia’s history: St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St Sophia Church and ancient Serdica. The panoramic section can be combined with a walking stop for the church and archaeological remains.
  • Art and culture: the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, the National Gallery and the National Library. Allow time to get off the bus for a closer look at the theatre or an exhibition visit.
  • Green spaces and city views: Eagles’ Bridge, Borisova Garden and the National Palace of Culture area. Street views can be complemented by a separate park walk; the bus does not use park paths.

For mixed interests, select one main focus and one additional stop. Pedestrian areas and archaeological sites are not sections of the bus route.

Starting point, duration and finishing point

You can agree on a start near St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral or another suitable location for your group, such as a hotel or event venue. This depends on vehicle access and permitted stopping, not simply proximity to the address.

The published estimate of around 65 minutes refers to the standard bus tour. A private programme with a walk, photographs or a museum visit needs its own timetable. Agree on a finishing point too, especially if a restaurant booking, conference or another event follows, and leave a buffer for traffic.

The price of a private tour and additional expenses

An individual quotation is agreed according to the date, selected bus, route, duration, waiting time, language and services arranged. A standard sightseeing ticket is not the price of a bus reserved for your group.

Distinguish transport from museum tickets, guided visits inside attractions and other separate services. Ask whether waiting during a visit is included. For a proposal based on a specific itinerary, send an enquiry with the number of participants and the hours available.

Bus, language and presentation of the sights

City Sightseeing Bulgaria offers private tours by open-top or double-decker bus, subject to availability and the agreed programme. The choice takes account of the season, weather and group composition. Confirm the actual vehicle before booking.

Specify the language and whether you prefer a brief introduction to the main sights or a more detailed account. For guests who speak different languages, discuss the arrangements beforehand; do not assume every language or a guide is included by default. For visitors with reduced mobility, check both boarding the particular bus and the walking sections.

Photo stops, walks and visits

Passing a landmark, getting off for photographs and entering a museum are three different programme elements. Agree on a meeting point and departure time for each stop. Even a short walk needs time for alighting, assembling the group and boarding again.

If you would like to visit Kvadrat 500, check the National Gallery’s visitor information for opening hours and tickets before choosing a time. Admission and a guided visit inside are not automatically included in a bus booking.

A personalised programme with City Sightseeing Bulgaria

To agree on your tour, prepare:

  • The date, number of participants and the group’s main interests.
  • Your preferred language and type of bus.
  • The starting and finishing points and total time available.
  • Any preferred stops, walks and visits inside attractions.

For a personalised proposal, send an enquiry with these details so that a feasible itinerary and the conditions can be confirmed.
